Rare Earths
Monazite Concentrate
Phosphate rare earth mineral rich in light rare earths
Product Overview
About Monazite Concentrate
Monazite is a rare earth phosphate mineral and one of the most important commercial sources of light rare earth elements - cerium, lanthanum, neodymium and praseodymium - together with recoverable thorium.
CriticalOre supplies monazite concentrate produced from heavy mineral sands operations in Southeast Asia. Because monazite naturally contains thorium and traces of uranium, every lot undergoes mandatory radiological testing, and we work only with buyers holding the appropriate licenses for import and processing.
Our team manages the complete compliance chain: laboratory analysis, IAEA-aligned transport classification, packaging, labeling and documentation.

Important: Radioactive Content Compliance
Monazite naturally contains thorium and uranium and is classified for transport purposes based on measured activity. Buyers must hold valid import and processing licenses for NORM (Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material) in their jurisdiction.
CriticalOre conducts gamma spectrometry and activity concentration testing on every lot, and ships only under compliant packaging, labeling and documentation aligned with IAEA transport regulations and destination-country requirements.
| Parameter | Typical Value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Total REO | 55% – 62% | - |
| Cerium Oxide (CeO₂) | ~45–50% of REO | - |
| Lanthanum Oxide (La₂O₃) | ~20–25% of REO | - |
| Neodymium Oxide (Nd₂O₃) | ~15–18% of REO | - |
| Thorium Oxide (ThO₂) | 4% – 7% | Radiological documentation required |
| Uranium (U₃O₈) | 0.1% – 0.4% | - |
| Moisture | < 3% | - |
Monazite composition varies by deposit. Exact assay per lot is confirmed by independent ICP-MS analysis before shipment.
